近年、FDAのGRAS（Generally Recognized as Safe）の申請情熱は衰えることなく、活発に行われています。2025年7月以降、米国FDAはGRAS認定リストを大量に更新しました。CIRSは、2025年7月～2025年9月におけるGRAS物質の申請状況を詳細に統計・分析し、企業の参考情報としてまとめました。
注意：FDA公式サイトの更新には遅延があり、既にGRAS認定を取得している物質でも、ステータスが反映されていない場合があります。本稿では第3四半期の更新情報に基づき解説しています。
第3四半期のFDA GRAS更新状況
第三四半期の更新では、以下4種類のステータスが確認されました。
- FDA has no questions（FDA異議無し）
- Pending（審査中）
- At the notifier's request, FDA ceased to evaluate this notice（通知者の要求により審査停止）
- Notice does not provide a basis for a GRAS determination（GRAS認定の根拠に不十分） ← 新規追加
統計によると、第3四半期には合計82品目の物質でステータスの更新があり、そのうち47品目が異議無し、32品目が新規審査中、2品目がGRAS認定の根拠不足、1品目が申請者による中止申請となりました。
2025年第3四半期にステータス更新があった82品目のうち、微生物関連物質が31品目、HMOが10品目、代替糖原料が6品目、乳製品が1品目、その他の製品が34品目でした。微生物関連物質は依然として申請が活発です。中に、各種の酵素製剤や菌糸体バイオマスが、微生物関連物質申請の重要な部分を占めています。
2025年第3四半期に更新された認定通過物質：合計47品目（FDA公式サイト更新時間に基づく）
2025年第3四半期に「FDA has no questions」のステータスが更新された物質は47品目でした。内訳は、微生物関連物質19品目、代替糖原料4品目、HMO物質2品目、乳製品1品目、その他物質21品目です。申請企業は米国、中国、韓国、日本、カナダ、オランダ、インド、オーストラリア、デンマークなど。米国企業と中国企業が主力で、それぞれ20件と15件の物質が「異議無し」となっています。
公式サイトの更新時間と、物質が実際に「FDA has no questions」の回答書を受け取った時間を比較すると、ほとんどの物質では、公式サイトへのステータス更新が実際の認定より遅延しており、GRN1173は公式更新が「FDA has no questions」通知より1年以上遅れた例もあります。
